Beta Pinene is a fresh, cooling terpene with a strong aroma of woody, resinous pine. Strains known for their content of Beta Pinene include Bubba Kush, ChemDawg, and Trainwreck. Isolated Beta Pinene can be naturally sourced from the resin of many types of conifer, including, as the name suggests, pine. Beta Pinene may also be sourced from the non coniferous camphorweed (Heterotheca) and big sagebrush (Artemisia tridentata). Beta Pinene is likely most recognized a necessary component of turpentine, it is also popular as a flavoring agent. Studies suggest that Beta Pinene has the potential to act as a stabilizer, especially when used in conjunction with the terpene linalool.
Worried about pine allergies?
To date, no one has reported a sensitivity to our alpha pinene.
From what we understand there are 3 types of pine allergies. Most cases of pine allergy are the result of a pollen allergy mainly in the spring time when male trees drop pollen or a nut allergy (pine nuts like in pesto and other Mediterranean dishes). However, a percentage of the population has been shown to be specifically allergic to alpha/beta pinene. Please speak with your doctor about possible reactions or to get an allergy test done to check your own sensitivity.
Through the distillation of alpha & beta pinene, our terpene oils should have been separated from any traces of either of pine nut or pollen. As with all natural products it is difficult to say that no reaction is possible with use but it is our opinion that those with those types of pine allergy should be able to use our Alpha Pinene when diluted as suggested after consulting their doctor about the use of pine oils. As mentioned above please check with your doctor before using the product if you have any history of a pine allergy.
